Project Overview:
Ironmongery Innovations is delighted to be part of Park Modern, an ultra-luxurious development located in one of London’s most prestigious areas. With 52 exquisite apartments, 3 penthouses, and 2 mews houses, all boasting south-facing views of Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, Park Modern sets a new standard for refined residential living.

Highlights:

• Client Collaboration: Introduced by the main contractor, Ant Yapi, we worked directly with Fenton Whelan to achieve their vision for this iconic project.

• Bespoke Lever Handle Design: Collaborating closely with the clients, we crafted a unique, organic-shaped lever handle tailored to their specifications, adding both elegance and functionality.

Innovative Finishing Solution:

• Preservation-Grade Finish: To ensure lasting beauty and durability, we partnered with a specialized finishing team to apply a nano microcrystalline wax finish, renowned for its preservation properties and used by institutions like the British Museum. This innovative finish provides long-term protection, and we offer an ongoing service to reapply and refresh finishes as needed.

The finer elements:
The client, Fenton Whelan had a very specific handle design in mind. The brief was an organic shape which matched the exterior "flow" of the building, something that felt "natural" in the hand when using. After a few design changes we "3D" printed the lever and presented this on a block to the client, following the intimal production run we realised the weight of the lever; 2.2kg was going to be difficult for the lockcase to cope with, thankfully our supplier Glutz, a Swiss based manufacturer came up with a solution and increased the strength of the spring within the lock to cope with the additional weight of the lever. Meeting the client brief and overcoming design challenges makes for an interesting project and gives the client that confidence in knowing they had chosen the right partner for such a prestigious landmark building.
